    Can AFERIY solar panels actually output 400W in good lighting conditions during actual use?

    No, it cannot. We understand your expectations for the product's performance, but it is a common phenomenon in the solar panel industry that the actual power output does not reach the rated value. The reasons are as follows:

    Firstly, the rated power is measured under standard test conditions, usually tested under ideal sunlight intensity, temperature, and angle conditions (the rated power of solar panels is typically measured under standard test conditions (STC), which is power measured under conditions of 1000W/m² of light intensity, 25℃ temperature, and vertical sun angle).

    However, factors such as actual installation environment, sunlight intensity, temperature, and shading can affect the power output of solar panels. These conditions may not be fully met, resulting in actual output power lower than the rated power. Therefore, under optimal conditions, the actual power output of a 400W solar panel would be around 300-320W (about 75%-80%).

    If the output value of the solar panel exceeds the specified range (power, voltage or current) of the portable power station. Will the equipment be damaged?
  • Overcurrent: If the output current of the solar panel exceeds the maximum input current of the AFERIY portable power station, the input current will be limited to within 20A.
  • Overload: If the output power of the solar panel exceeds the maximum input power of the portable power station, the input power will be limited to within the maximum input power.
  • Overvoltage: If the output voltage of the solar panel exceeds the maximum input voltage of the portable power station, the overvoltage protection function of the power station will be triggered, and the power station will automatically disconnect the power supply function. This may cause damage to the connected devices.
  • To protect your portable power station and connected devices, it is recommended to ensure that the output power, voltage, and current of the solar panel are within the specifications of the AFERIY portable power station when purchasing or using it.

    Can the AFERIY portable power station be continuously connected to a solar panel?
    Yes, but it is not recommended. The AFERIY product is designed to disconnect the solar panel connection when there is no power input or insufficient energy conversion from the solar panel.

    The reasons are as follows:

  • Power consumption: If the solar panel is continuously connected, the AFERIY portable power station will have a small amount of power consumption when there is no power input, approximately 30Wh per hour.
  • Beeping sound: When the solar panel is connected and it gets dark, the insufficient energy conversion due to the weakening of light may cause repeated charging restarts (equivalent to repeatedly plugging and unplugging the charging plug to start charging) and the internal relay of the AFERIY portable power station to repeatedly operate, resulting in a beeping sound.

    Therefore, it is recommended to unplug the charging plug when there is no sunlight at night or when there is insufficient energy conversion from the solar panel, and charge when there is sufficient light and stable energy conversion.

  • Why does the AFERIY power station make a sound when connected to a solar panel until there is no sunlight at night?

    The AFERIY portable power station is equipped with a relay, which serves to protect the power station and connected devices from damage caused by current abnormalities such as overload and short circuit. Specifically, the relay is an electrically controlled switch device that can be opened or closed when the current or voltage reaches a set value. In portable power stations, relays are commonly used to monitor changes in current and voltage to protect the power station and connected devices.

  • When the solar panel is connected and it gets dark, the insufficient energy conversion due to the weakening of light may cause repeated charging restarts (equivalent to repeatedly plugging and unplugging the charging plug to start charging).
  • Due to the installation of a relay in the AFERIY portable power station, the weakening of light can also cause the internal relay to repeatedly operate, resulting in a beeping sound.

    Therefore, it is recommended to unplug the charging plug when there is no sunlight at night or when there is insufficient energy conversion from the solar panel, and charge when there is sufficient light and stable energy conversion.

  • Does continuously connecting the solar panel consume power from the AFERIY portable power station when there is no sunlight at night?

    It will consume a certain amount of power. When the AFERIY portable power station is not receiving any power input, such as when it is continuously connected to a solar panel, there will be a slight power consumption, approximately 30Wh per hour. However, if the AC switch is turned on, it will automatically shut down after 8 hours and may consume up to 20% of the power.

    Therefore, it is recommended to unplug the charging plug when there is insufficient energy conversion from the solar panel, and charge when there is sufficient light and stable solar conversion.

    If you must connect the solar panel when there is no sunlight at night, in order to save power consumption of your portable power station, please turn off the AC switch and other input switches.

    Can the solar panel automatically resume charging the next day if it is continuously connected?

    After sunrise on the second day, it can automatically restart and resume charging.

    However, please note that weak sunlight during sunrise and sunset may result in repeated charging and restarting of the product (equivalent to repeatedly plugging and unplugging the charging plug of the solar panel) and repeated activation of the internal relay of the AFERIY portable power station. It is recommended to unplug the charging plug when there is insufficient energy conversion from the solar panel and charge when there is sufficient light and stable energy conversion.

    Can solar panels with different voltages and currents be connected in series?

    No, it is not possible to connect solar panels with different voltages and currents in series. When connecting solar panels in series or parallel, it is important to ensure that the parameters of the solar panels (such as open circuit voltage, short circuit current, etc.) are similar to avoid efficiency losses or damage to the equipment. Additionally, it is necessary to use appropriate voltage regulators or charge controllers to manage and protect the charging process of the energy storage device.

    To protect your portable power station and connected devices, please follow the following recommendations: use solar panels of the same brand and with the same rated values when connecting them in series or parallel.

    If you connect two solar panels with different voltages and currents in series, any damage caused to the equipment will not be covered under our warranty.

    Can the AFERIY solar panel be waterproof?
